Stress release

Stress is an inevitable part of life, and in moderation can actually be very helpful, supporting us in reaching goals and responding to potentially dangerous events. However for many of us, stress has become a default state of being, once which our body is not prepared to remain in. Constant feelings of stress and overload can weaken immunity, disrupt hormones, and zap the joy from life. In the same way we create stress in the body, we can also create relaxation. When we learn that there are techniques to help us to rest and renew, we can become more empowered over the choices we are making. We accept that life brings its stresses, but we feel more confident and able to respond.

I use a combination of yoga techniques to help you manage and release stress. These may include hatha-based yoga postures suitable for all levels including beginners, pranayama (breathwork), meditation, yoga nidra and restorative yoga. I focus on freeing the breath, which allows the nervous system to drop out of fight-or-flight and into rest-and-digest. Over time, we can find a sense of steadiness and ease in our minds, bodies and life.
