New moon in Sagittarius: start the wild fire!

Welcome to the lunar cycle of Sagittarius, the sign of hope, optimism and searching for more. Whether that’s seeking more meaning to life, more fun and play, or simply the desire to travel or study, Sagittarius is a sign that wants to broaden its horizons, and as we move closer towards winter solstice and the nights continue to draw in, what better time to add a spark of light into your life and let the wild fire begin to burn?

Symbolism of the moon

If Scorpio called us to delve into the deep and murky aspects of ourselves, Sagittarius asks us to come back out into the world and aim high! Optimistic, hopeful and playful, Sagittarius is a fire sign that wants to spread far and wide. An energy that just has to find meaning in life, that wants to see and do it all, it is also a sign that can burn out easily. Stillness is so good for anyone with a lot of Sag energy in their chart (I fall into that camp), and so letting the reflective and dark energies of the moon into your life at this time can be extra valuable.

Wild fire

The new moon in Sagittarius meets the sun here, and at this time (November 2019), Jupiter and Venus are also in their final days here. Consider what you could do to add some enthusiasm into your day. Whilst a lot of fun, Sag is also deeply philosophical, and just knows there’s more to life than meets the eye. How can you inspire yourself today, what will elevate you beyond the ordinary life and into the vast space of the unknown around us? Maybe reading this blog is enough, or exploring one of my free yoga nidras hosted here to deepen your awareness and access deep parts of your consciousness.

The sign of fire is visionary, and especially so in Sag when we shoot for the moon and land in the stars. This can be a time to inspire yourself and others but watch out for being over zealous or too speedy. This is new moon energy remember, and new moon allows us to become quiet, reflective and more inward-facing. With Christmas ahead and the turmoil of emotions that can bring, taking time to connect with yourself and your centre can be more important than ever.

New Moon Intentions

Pope Francis is a Sagittarius and has come under fire by traditional Catholics for his progressive thoughts of creating a  “culture of dialogue” between those with differing religious beliefs. This status-quo defying philosophy is a true quality of the Sagittarius. Nostradamus is another Sagittarian who made grand and dramatic predictions for the future, some of which failed to materialise - perhaps another example of the well-meaning yet sometimes misguided intentions of Sagittarius!

Mary Queen of Scots was a Sagittarius who became queen when she was just 6 days old and lived a life of drama and movement. Writer Jane Austen was also Sagittarius, and visionary in her often sarcastic writing of the culture and society of her time.

Wherever Sagittarius falls in your chart (and you can book an astrology reading with me here), use this time to seek our what inspires you, what lifts your spirits and sends your hopes soaring. This isn’t time to worry about the detail - trust your instincts and enjoy yourself.
