Nurture and Nourish Retreat

Join me for a weekend away in the country for rest, relaxation and nourishment. Gentle yoga will open up the body, soothe the nervous system and bring balance to the whole being. This is your time to rest and recover, to stop, breathe and simply just be.

The venue

Hidden away in a valley in Dartmoor, Eastdown is a simple and peaceful place to retreat. Journey down the M5 and then branch off the A30 at Cheriton Bishop, and you are almost at Eastdown, easy to find and yet completely idyllic. With alpacas and horses grazing nearby, easy to access footpaths and rivers, and a beautiful peaceful feel both indoors and out, there's a good reason that Eastdown is called the breathing space! With an original thatched roof and charming wooden furniture throughout, your stay here will leave you feeling truly rested.

The yoga 

The focus on this retreat will be to nurture and nourish every level of our being. Enjoy spacious and fluid yoga in the morning, and soothing and balancing restorative yoga  in the afternoon, as well as twice daily yoga nidra practices. This type of yoga is not a brand or a set structure, rather it is a combination of my years of study, training and practice. The yoga has been influenced by my training in well-woman yoga therapy, restorative yoga, yoga nidra, breathwork and relaxation. The emphasis is on stepping away from the striving and straining which so fills our everyday life, and to move towards greater self-acceptance, steadiness and ease. Finding peace within ourselves enables us to then step back into daily life with a renewed sense of awareness and energy that comes from deep relaxation.

All levels are welcome to this retreat, including those new to yoga. The small group size means you will get more of my time and attention, and we will explore how yoga philosophy can help us take our practice 'off the mat', and support us in our everyday lives. 

The food

Nemia is a much treasured part of this retreat, and her 5 star mostly organic, nutritious and simply delicious food will leave you feeling nourished and replenished. Catering for gluten, diary, wheat and refined-sugar-free diets (on request), Nemia prepares all meals from scratch, with love. From energy balls on arrival, early morning snacks, an amazing brunch including eggs, porridge, scrambled tofu, fresh fruits, granolas, yoghurt (non-dairy available on request) and a range of tea and coffee, lunches of soups and salads and bread, and vegan and vegetarian dinners good enough to convert any meat eater, not to mention her famous desserts, Nemia truly puts the nourish into this retreat.

The Schedule

The aim on this retreat is to slow ourselves down and allow ourselves to drop away from busy-ness and doing into a state of being. I encourage you to let yourself move at the pace of your body. You may be surprised by how tired you really are, so afternoon naps, relaxing with a book, or enjoying a stroll in the fresh air are all welcome here. You are free to do as little or as much of the schedule as you like. We will have a massage therapist joining us on retreat at an additional cost, so why not make the most of this time to nourish yourself deeply?

Terms and conditions


A retreat can be wonderfully relaxing, allowing you time to focus on yourself and taking away the every day stresses of life. However retreats can also be times of emotional release, as slowing down often offers the chance for reflection and contemplation. It is recommended that you slow down before your retreat if possible, and also allow yourself time to return to the everyday world, perhaps taking an extra day off work if you can, and avoiding making any unnecessary social engagements or obligation. 

It is good to prepare for all weathers, especially when retreating in the UK! For this reason, I recommend wellies and/or walking boots, waterproof clothes, comfy warm socks and slippers, a warm jumper or two, hat and gloves, sunscreen, and swimming clothes (when relevant).
